dancing on clouds

Firstly, I like to thank everyone who thinks my blog is worth visiting or following...  and those who leave comments ... I am always visiting you but, most times I don´t have time to comment...

I did this one without a prior sketch, and took me like half an hour to finish, so I think of it as a warm up exercise, when I do a piece of fruit it takes much less time than that..
15" by 11 1/2" watercolour on paper

I focused here on some details and faded a few areas to add interest and to give the illusion of movement as she is dancing and literally flying...I hope you like it...

another ballet dancer

8" by 11" watercolours on montval 300gms canson paper I have done a prior sketch for this one, and eliminated unnecessary details, and fewer colours in order to focus on shadows and depict light... I hope you like it, and thank you for visiting my blog and commenting, your comments give me great pleasure...

8" by 11" watercolours on montval 300gms paper I did this one by starting with a line sketch, which I found helped me in determining which parts to define

dreamy

watercolours on montval 300gms paper 11" by 8" This painting was done by starting with a preliminary sketching, I felt I experimented with painting without sketching first long enough. I am trying now to eliminate any details that are not important to me, so the focus is only on parts of the painting that I love most.

Some more sketches

I am enjoying this so much, I am getting the hang of it

Costume Sketching

First I like to apologize to my friends who are following my blog, I was unable to post images, so I had to switch back to the old post editor. Then there is no way I could comment on any of your lovely work. There is something wrong and I have no idea what it is nor how to fix it. It has been asome time since I did any sketching, there was no time, ut, I must say, I have enjoyed doing these so much, I have missed sketching, or using a pencil for that matter, as you may know by now I paint without a preliminary sketching for my watercolours.

Elegant lady

My Sincerest Apologies
I owe each and everyone of my friends who follow my blog, a huge and heartfelt apology, I have neglected my log and my friends much longer than I intended, but, life was very hard during my absence, and my work took so much effort, health issues and family matters added to all that.
A special and sincere thank you for all my friends who thought my blog is worth following recently, welcome and I hope I will not disappear again to disappoint you.
A quiet thank you for my friends who took the time to leave the  lovely positive and thoughtful comments, they are truly appreciated.
And finally a heart-felt thank you for those who emailed me to ask and inquire about my whereabouts and my health.
11" by 8" watercolours on paper
As usual, this painting was done without an initial sketch and I painted it a little loosely leaving a lot of white areas to indicate light.

Will Be Away

I like to thank everybody who thought this blog is interesting, and was kind enough to follow, thank you also for all your kind and wonderful comments, I really do enjoy reading them and answering them.

I am so sorry that I hadn´t posted for some time, te truth is I have been and still is very busy, doing costumes and props for a play, adapted from a spanish playwright Calderon De La Barka ... called ... Life Is A Dream.

Usually it is not easy for me to paint while having all my energy directed towards creating designs for costumes...
I hope you will bear with me and forgive me if I didn´t post and painted as often as before, but this is only temporary for two more weeks ...

This painting has been done in my usual style , that is without the use of a preliminary sketch, I started with the shadows , being careful to get their outer shapes right and defining the lit side by painting the background negatively

15 by 11" arches 140lb rough W&N  wc paints

notice the negative painting and the shadows

more details ... note the negative painting
