Costume Sketches for a Movie

These are a few sketches I did for costumes that will be done for a Jordanian feature film called Line Of Sight.
I did these with the help of a few figures chosen from a huge archive of models in different poses on Posemaniacs an invaluable site for artists http://www.posemaniacs.com/

ballet dancer sketch #8

I am so excited for this post, it is post #100 on my blog... feels kind of special...
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO IS SO KIND AS TO FOLLOW MY BLOG... or leave a comment, your input really makes me very happy

I discovered Posemaniacs a few months ago, it is a great reference for any position you wish to draw... they have thousands of figures posing in different poses and you can turn them around and sketch away...
I find it particularly useful when I want to draw costume illustrations that look as close to real life as possible...especially that you don´t have a model near by to sketch... http://www.posemaniacs.com/
try it and see how much fun it is
these ballerina sketches  were not done using this link, it was copied from some photos I took some time ago

ballet dancer sketch #7

11 1/2" by 8" watercolours on arches 300 paper
I feel that focusing on certain subjects to paint, developes my skills and ability to draw,  and discover techniques to suit each subject

My daughter

My daughter is a photogapher, and an artist. This is one of her photos. Grocery shopping in downtown.
She uses a Nikkormat, (Vintage Nikon camera) using film, she uses a 50mm lens, using 100 ISO film. Mostly expired film. I thought I would share it with you. Would appreciate feedback.

A sketch of a ballet dancer # 1

this is the first of a series of watercolour sketches of ballet dancers, I feel it is a good idea to do sets of paintings, as I am focused right now on faces and characters of old men, who I see when I am downtown, and the graceful movements and shapes of the dancers I meet at the theatre

dancing on clouds

Firstly, I like to thank everyone who thinks my blog is worth visiting or following...  and those who leave comments ... I am always visiting you but, most times I don´t have time to comment...

I did this one without a prior sketch, and took me like half an hour to finish, so I think of it as a warm up exercise, when I do a piece of fruit it takes much less time than that..
15" by 11 1/2" watercolour on paper

I focused here on some details and faded a few areas to add interest and to give the illusion of movement as she is dancing and literally flying...I hope you like it...

another ballet dancer

8" by 11" watercolours on montval 300gms canson paper I have done a prior sketch for this one, and eliminated unnecessary details, and fewer colours in order to focus on shadows and depict light... I hope you like it, and thank you for visiting my blog and commenting, your comments give me great pleasure...

Back to ballerinas

8" by 11" watercolours on montval 300gms paper I did this one by starting with a line sketch, which I found helped me in determining which parts to define

another portrait of a beauty

dreamy

watercolours on montval 300gms paper 11" by 8" This painting was done by starting with a preliminary sketching, I felt I experimented with painting without sketching first long enough. I am trying now to eliminate any details that are not important to me, so the focus is only on parts of the painting that I love most.

Some more sketches

I am enjoying this so much, I am getting the hang of it

Costume Sketching

First I like to apologize to my friends who are following my blog, I was unable to post images, so I had to switch back to the old post editor. Then there is no way I could comment on any of your lovely work. There is something wrong and I have no idea what it is nor how to fix it. It has been asome time since I did any sketching, there was no time, ut, I must say, I have enjoyed doing these so much, I have missed sketching, or using a pencil for that matter, as you may know by now I paint without a preliminary sketching for my watercolours.
